I guess it’s a good thing that tomorrow is my last day in Florence, because describing these photos is getting pretty hard! How many times have I used the words Unbelievable, Gorgeous, Beautiful? And how many times can I use them before it gets too boring and repetitive for you, dear reader? I’ll try Stunning!!

Because today I visited the Medici Chapels, and it was Stunning! This is where the remains of six of the great leaders of Florence from the Medici family are buried. You walk through the crypt area, where the remains are actually buried, and it’s nothing special. You wander around seeing some of their treasures, and that’s all nice. Then you turn a corner and enter this huge room, and it is stunning. The room is about 100 foot across and 200 foot high. Decorated in slabs of marble. It’s hard to describe. So here are the pics.

There are these “sarcophagi”, but the actual remains are not here but in the nearby crypt

Unlike the interiors of so many cathedrals, the detail here all comes from the slabs of marble themselves Stunning!
